ROAD IN SUMMER

This is what the Rock River Division of the Albany County Road and Bridge Department up against. It looks pretty harmless in the summer but the roads are subjected to some rain, a lot of wind, a lot of baking and a lot of heavy vehicles including a lot of cattle trucks.

The county road infrastructure includes 534 miles of gravel roads (299 miles north of Rock River), 43 miles of paved roads, 1,277 culverts 332 cattle guards, 25 bridges and 3.2 miles of snow fence.

Three guys are assigned to the Rock River Section. That’s three guys to keep a road system running that is equal in distance to a road from Chicago to St. Louis.
